My wife and I just finished watching Bobby Flays Throwdown featuring crabcakes. Imagine how frustrated we were when the only recipe listed was Bobbys. Since the true flavor of food is the presentation and the setting which you have an abundance of could you share your crabcakes and sauce recipe for us poor landlocked New Mexicans who long for the crustacean delicasy prepared the proper way. Please oh please we may never get to Boothbay Harbor to experience the real flavor and dont want to neglect our tastebuds

The Lobster Dock is no frills casual dinning but the food and the service are next to no others. The oysters on a half shell are terrific. I am from Pennsylvania and usually get either New York Blue Point or Chincoteague oysters. The Lobster Dock serves up plump and juicy Glidden Point oysters fresh out ot the Damariscotta River ... there are none better (and oh-by-the way ... the cocktail sauce is a perfect compliment). Special orders ... don't be afraid to ask ... the owners and their stagff are all wonderful people. I'm used to the Caribbean method of grilling a lobster so I asked if they could finish off a lobster for Mom and me on the grill ... no problem. Mom and I couldn't believe how much better we liked the Maine lobsters finished that way. If you are going to Boothbay Harbor ... the Lobster Dock is a must do item for your to-do list... enjoy!

When will you be starting your season this year. We usually come up from Ct. the first weekend in June and we would like to be customers! Boothbay Harbor is our destination three times out of the year. You have the best location on the harbor for your restaurant and we are keeping our fingers crossed that you will start the season on Memorial Day!

Hello to both of you. Like the many emails that have been posted here, I saw your clip on the Food Network and was immediatley taken. I litterally had to sit down. After going through some similar life changes, I had just *that day* been thinking about packing it up and heading east. My only experience has been in Cape Cod several summers ago. The children have gone and I need to bring forth some dreams, so when I saw the show, I knew it was for me. I have tried to find out more information about Boothbay living. I wonder if you might spare some time before your busy season hits to correspond with me about what I might expect in moving to your area. I currently reside and work in a resort community that very much prospers from the weekend and summer travelers about 90 minutes east of Chicago, so I am used to the *highs and lows* of employment. I would be most grateful for your friendship and advise. For all the little reasons in life that we are brought to one another...you have made me smile and dream. Thanks again in advance, Gayle.

Hi, Just wanted to tell you that I saw the show on Food TV. It is stories like yours that makes us love the fact that we came to Maine. My husband and I are grad students at UNE (Phys Assistant and Social Work) and we too hope to find a small community in Maine to practice in. Yours is a great example on how taking risks can be successful! We will definitely visit when in your area! Connie Sacripante Gorham, Maine

I just saw your restaurant being featured on the Food Network. How wonderful that you got out of the rut of fast living, driving, and no time for anything else. It was a breath of fresh air to hear you talk of a new life and how wonderful it is! You are so right; life is too short to be unhappy. My family lived in Maine (Winter Harbor, then Ellsworth) for 6 winters! I am from Memphis and love the snow (something I got very little of growing up). My husband was the Safety Mgr at NSGA in Winter Harbor before it shut down. We now live in Washington, DC. Talk about traffic. After 14 years here, we are moving to New Orleans (that's where the children call home). It's 23 years later, and I can't wait! We can retire in a few years, only 8 hours from Memphis, the kids are grown (and want to visit regularly), and we're planning our retirement time with a 5th wheel for the truck! Life will be good...thanks for sharing your story with the world. We'll come to see you on the next trip to Maine. Some of our best friends own a restaurant in Sullivan, ME. Bob and Kathys. Thanks again, you really lifted my spirits! Shelia Voss

I just saw your restaurant on the Food Network and I must say I am very impressed- as a native New Englander, who has been away from the area now for 15 yrs- I can assure you that my first stop when we move back this summer will be to The Lobster Dock ! My husband has NEVER had lobster before and I really want him to experience "lobsta" and little necks for the very first time at your restaurant. Thank you for taking a chance on happiness ! P.S. Do you put Churico (pronounced "chirish")(hot port. sauage) in with your little necks? My father always does and it adds a little extra "something" after they are steamed- try it- you might like it ! Thanks ! See you in July !!! Patti

My wife and I saw your restaurant on the Food Network today. It was everything one might imagine a "dockside" eatery to be. The view was great and the area is what we love to see and visit. That would be our next thing to do....come and visit you and the area. Hope to do that soon. God Bless you and your business. Allen Hare

We have been coming to Boothbay for six years and eaten at almost every lobster stop. We find your restaurant to be the best! This August we came up with my mother and she couldn't believe how delicious everything was. She has been eating lobster for over 50 years but will always remember dinner with you. P.S. Stue (my husband) had a 4 pound lobster that was super.

I moved to Wells Me in 1998 from historic Concord MA. One of my first day trips was to Boothbay Harbor. To my delight I discovered The Lobster Dock, and have been coming at least once annually since. Being a seafood lover especially lobster, I found that The Lobster Dock steamed clams & lobsters are the best I have had anywhere along coastal New England. The food, friendly staff, & atmosphere are the best!! Keep up the good work!!

Hi! We just got home to CT from our 2nd annual vacation to Boothbay Harbor. Just before we left last Wednesday you were kind enough to let us buy an entire Maine blueberry pie from you and we just want to says "thanks" again! One bite of that just after our long drive home and we could almost feel we were in Maine again! You not only have the BEST LOBSTER ANYWHERE but you also have the BEST MAINE BLUEBERRY PIE ANYWHERE! You and your wife and all of your staff were so helpful and nice and it was cool to hear that you are from CT too! Not only is your lobster roll scrumptious, but the view from your deck is unparalleled! Sometimes when you go on vacation you want to try new, different places, but there really is no need when your food is the best, and your prices are unbeatable! Just to see your staff load up those fishnet sacks with corn, lobsters and steamers is a treat, you cannot get that kind of atmosphere in any other restaurant. The only way to get fresher lobster than yours would be to eat it right on the lobster boats!!! You're all doing a SUPER JOB! Don't change a thing. We'll be back next year with our lobster bibs in hand! Thanks for once again making our vacation a memorable one! Blaine & Robin Boxwell Milford, Connecticut

We arrived in Booth Bay on Saturday, June 12, 2004 together with my cousin and his wife. After attending the 5:30 Mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace, we met them at the Lobster Dock for dinner. The lobster chower, steamers and a 2.5# lobster were so great, we came back for lunch and dinner on Sunday. Only this time I had a 3.5# lobster. The food and service were great and Mitch, thank you for being so gracious and attentive. Marie and I have been making trips to Booth Bay since 1950 and this was one of the most enjoyable trips we have had. Thanks again and we will be back. Mike & Marie Coronato New Jersey

Greetings from Texas! I have an interesting story I thought you might like to know about.... My neighbor called me one day and said I wouldn't believe it, but in the Coastal Living magazine there was a family in Maine who also had two children by the names of Sari and Max! We also have two children Sari age 11 and Max age 14. I was so struck by this I just had to write! We have yet to meet any other "Sari's" and of course Max is becoming a more common name, but when we chose it 14 years ago, we really hadn't heard it much. We chose the name Sari after an artist and I was just wondering how you found the name? We vacationed in Maine last summer and maybe one day we could make it up to your restaurant for what sounds like a fabulous lobster dinner! Take care and congrats on 2 really great names!! I just read Coastal Livings article about you and was so inspired. While I live in Silicon Valley, California now, I spent wonderful summers in Maine as a child on Sebago Lake and got to know and love Boothbay Harbor in my 20's (25 years ago). My sister is moving back to Portland from the Berkshires and spends time each summer in Boothbay, so I look forward to visiting your establishment this summer. Thank you for sharing your heartwarming story as my husband and I are now exploring more balanced work-life options. I learned a lot especially appreciated your section on the lessons you've learned on this journey.

I must have eaten at every place in your entire area and I have to admit - The Lobster Dock is the best place not only in the Boothbay Region, but in the state of Maine itself (and maybe even the east coast). I consider myself a pretty fair judge of good food - and yours is GREAT! I cannot wait to visit Boothbay Harbor again just to eat at The Lobster Dock. And, oh yeah, your selection of wines is a nice surprise. Some of the formal sit down waiter service restaurants don't even offer the variety you have. Thanks again - one of your many fans.

I was with my wife, and she told you that we thought you were open as the light was still on, @ the sign by the roadway. You told her that you were too short, that's why you didn't turn if off. Anyways, you was so nice, and let me order my steak & lobster dinner. You have a really nice restaurant, and also in a great location, and the food.....well...extrodinary! We visited Maine for the first time in August of 2002 and had an amazing time at The Lobster Dock. We greatly appreciate the friendly welcome we recieved. We searched Boothbay Harbor for raw oysters and finally found them at The Lobster Dock. Thank you we hope to be back next year!

Hello Mitch, just a note to let you know that we had a great time at The Lobster Dock on a recent trip to Maine from Lobsterland. We ate at your restaurant every day and all of the times the lobsters gave me great service, and the hospitality was lobsteriffic. I still can't forget the FANTASTIC LOBSTERS, they own man! The feast you served us certainly made our visit memorable, with a great view of homegrown lobsters. See you on my next visit.

Hello Mitch, just a note to let you know that we had a great time at The Lobster Dock on a recent trip to Maine from Burlington, Ontario. We ate twice at your restaurant and both times the service and hospitality was friendly and fast, and of course we can't forget the FANTASTIC LOBSTERS Rita and I shared. The feast you served us certainly made our visit memorable, with a great view to boot. See you on our next visit.

We have been coming back to stay at Capt Fish's at least twice a year for the last five year and he eats all of her meals at the lobster dock. Mitch & Dawn do an outstanding job with their lobster & etc. We were just there the 1st week in Oct with Ambassadair. See you again next year from Indianapolis

Love your restaurant and food, especially the mussels and lobster stew. Just wanted to let you know you have the best lobster stew anywhere! We just got back from our vacation up there, and we haven't found another place that has stew as good as yours. We come to the dock just for your stew, and tell everyone we see to get it there before trying somewhere else. No place we've tried can come close to yours. Please don't ever change it. Can't wait till next year!

Once I went into the Website and oh how I just love Lobster so well so that meant I had to inquire a little bit about you. The Site is just beautiful. Do you have a mail order for Lobster (fresh) that can be shipped to Los Angeles? I think since I may not be able to visit your place, either I will visit via the computer (website) or just enjoy wait. But I just love Lobster, and Claim Chowder and will check in with you later via the Internet. I will print the Recipe regarding the sandwich. Thank you once again. Joyce Howell

My father ran a marine shop in Boothbay in the 40's and 50's. I had always wanted to visit Boothbay and didn't until about 8 years ago. My mother was able to come also and we sat at your outside deck and had my first Maine lobster (and beer of course). I told my mom then that I had been a lot of beautiful places but that sitting there eating lobsters watching the boats and hearing the buoy bells was the most wonderful place I had ever been. Thanks for being there! Joyce - Orlando,FL

On a gorgeous Saturday in September, we were in Boothbay Harbor and were looking for the Lobster Co-op that had been there a few years ago. It was our good fortune to run into your associate outside The Lobster Dock who plugged her ears at the mention of the lobster co-op. She encouraged us to try the menu at The Lobster Dock. We looked over your menu which had great variety and decided to eat there. What a good choice we made!!! We had the most delicious lobsters and steamers we've ever eaten, along with the artichoke appetizer and blueberry pie!!! Yum! What a treat! Thank you for a great lunch! When we return to Boothbay Harbor, we'll be sure to stay nearby so we can take advantage of your good food. Thanks again!

Just wanted to let you know how much Bobbie and I enjoyed meeting you and dining at The Lobster Dock. This was our third vacation to Maine (about every three or four years) and the third visit to the Lobster Dock. We based ourselves in Freeport, visited all the shops at Freeport and Kittery, and toured the area from Brunswick to Bath and Boothbay Harbor including a cruise on Casco Bay. Both Bobbie and I love Lobster. Together we consumed at least one dozen this last trip. We especially enjoyed our day at Boothbay Harbor. A highlight of our trip was enjoying twin lobsters and a cold pitcher of beer at an umbrella table on the Lobster Dock while watching the boats go by as the sun set. While it may sound trite, it doesn’t get much better. Give our regards to your staff. They couldn’t be any more courteous or friendly. Hope to see you again in a couple of years.

Your food is the best seafood I have ever had in my life. I sampled some of my friends lobster and it was delicious beyond description. I myself ordered the fried seafood platter for I always order fried seafood. First of all, this was the first restaurant I had been to that offered all of the fried seafood varieties in one meal. Also, each individual part of the platter was prepared to perfection and i couldn't get enough. Since I do not live in Maine I will not be able to eat this fine food often, I will make it a point of interest whenever I visit Maine. I will also convince all my friends to visit the lobster dock when they go to Boothbay Harbor. I cannot thank you enough for the glorious meal you served me. One of those "other" places had it on their menu too, but it was horrible compared to yours! We have decided to visit again this Fall and am wondering if you are still open after Labor Day? And, any chance of getting a "Pie and Lobsters" shipped to Delaware???? Or maybe the Pie recipe???? Thanks so much for a wonderful visit, your employees are the BEST!!!!
